I haven’t written in a while. As you can see. I became the COO of a friends company, and the time that I used to have is now gone. I suppose this is what I love doing. Waking up every day knowing that the future of the company is in my hands.
Time is something that we all waste. We all use some of our day to be; productive, happy, selfish and tons of other adjectives. Time can be a scary thing. Right now I have a list of about 50 actions that I need to take. Our company is undergoing a major site redesign which I am overseeing, we have 10 employees that need to be overseen and we are trying to expand into new and better markets. In a normal job there would be one person for each of those tasks, there would be an IT manager keeping track of the website, upper and lower level managers overseeing employees and a team of analysts creating an expansion plan. Here it’s me and a few other people sitting in a room.
Time management is key for anyone but especially important for entrepreneurs. I set goals for myself and my team, I use post-it notes with a sharpie, I use my iPad religiously. My point is that there are so many tools to help manage time that someone in my position would be an idiot if they didn’t take advantage of them.
The business world is constantly changing, constantly moving and as soon as you look away and lose your place it will take some time before you get back in there. Some would say that it would be best just to not lose your spot from the start. Time management is the beginning of that anchor that you will need to make it in this ever changing world.
